Gloves are necessary in many industries that are dirty or potentially dangerous and there are a lot of types of gloves on the market. SITEX sells Nitrile, Vinyl and Latex gloves, so which should you buy? In this post we’ll break it down so you can get the type of gloves that you need.

Nitrile is a synthetic rubber and better than traditional latex gloves at resisting punctures. These gloves, due to their durability are ideal for automotive, industrial or chemical industries. They are also latex-free, making them good for those with a latex allergy. Although Nitrile gloves are most commonly used in tough industries, these gloves are often called “medical grade” and must be approved by the FDA before they’re marketed to hospitals or medical institutions. These gloves are good for wearing for an extended period of time, and commonly come in blue or black, which makes it easy to identify when the gloves have been punctured. Nitrile gloves come either sterile or non-sterilized, depending on your specific needs.

Vinyl is not just for records; it’s also for gloves! Vinyl is most commonly used in the food industry where gloves are worn for shorter periods of time. Vinyl gloves are less expensive than higher grade, more durable gloves, and they have a looser fit, making them easier to put on. Vinyl gloves are best used with non-chemical, non-hazardous materials.

Latex gloves are made of rubber and are often used for medical or light industrial jobs. They are comfortable, and fit well to many people’s hands, making them good for wearing over long periods of time. Latex gloves are cheaper than Nitrile Gloves and very elastic. Unlike Nitrile gloves, latex gloves are also biodegradable which may be very important to you if you are implementing a green initiative or environmentally minded.

Still unsure of what kind of gloves you need? SITEX carries all types of gloves and is happy to help you make a selection.
