At SITEX, we put a big focus on reducing our carbon footprint by not only providing environmentally friendly services but we also provide our customers with products that help them become a more green company too! Microfiber technology has been one of the most significant product innovations in the cleaning industry in the last century. Even better, microfiber towels are a quick and easy switch toward helping preserve environmental resources.

What are microfibers?

Manufacturers claim man-made microfiber materials, manufactures by chemically splitting small polyester and polyamide fibers into even tinier fibers (the equivalent of splitting a human hair into 16 different segments) providing a superior cleaning capability. Each square inch of microfiber contains approximately 90,000 fibers! Because the fibers are so small, microfibers can get into surface pores and crevices, for a deep clean. Additionally, the microfibers have a positive electric charge. This means that when dry, the static causes dirt, which has a negative charge, to cling better to the towel or mop.

Less waste compared to paper towels

This may seem obvious, but the reality is that use of paper towels remains a large strain on the environment. In the U.S., we currently use more than 13 billion pounds of paper towels each year, and as many as 51,000 trees per day are required to replaced the number of paper towels that are discarded each day.[1] Beyond landfill waste, all those paper towels cost money. By using a reusable towel, you save money in the long run as well!

Advanced durability due to textile composition

Microfiber cloths are designed to last a long time. Instead of just pushing the grime around, the dirt gets trapped in the fibers and locked away, so the same microfiber cloth or mop head can be used for a longer period of time cleaning larger surface areas before having to be laundered. Additionally, very few chemicals can harm microfiber, so when properly cared for, microfiber can be laundered anywhere from 100-500 times and remain an effective cleaning tool.

Less chemicals used and water wasted during the cleaning process

Depending on your tools, the cleaning process can be incredibly wasteful, and even harmful, to the environment. Because microfiber is a lint-free, non-abrasive, and hypoallergenic product, it allows you to clean without the use of chemicals. Microfiber is also very absorbent and can hold up to seven times its weight in moisture, reducing water waste in order to properly dissolve messes.

And by partnering with a professional linen service like SITEX, you can double down on the environmental advantage, since our methods allow for less water used during the laundering process. Contact us today!
