Table Linen Sets Your Holiday Party Ambiance

With the holidays quickly approaching, everyone is sure to have a packed schedule with parties, dinner dates, office parties, and holiday get-togethers.  Nothing sets the mood of an event like the table linen and napery used.  Choosing your holiday linen selection can be difficult.  Here are a few tips for making it easier and taking the pain out of one of the things on your checklist.
  1. Decide what tone you want to set for your event.  If cool and casual is what you are looking for consider using linen table cloths but paper napkins.  Or skip the table cloths all together and just use cloth napkins.  Using only one cloth item, either table cloths or napkins, will help to keep your holiday party light and fun.  If you are looking for a more formal affair, choose all cloth.  Nothing says formal like having your tables set in cloth table linen and cloth napkins.
  2. Select your colors wisely.  If you are planning a dinner with spaghetti, don’t choose white napkins.  Consider how your napkins will hold up against your menu and drink selections.  You want something that will coordinate with you theme, but also you want something that will make your guest feel comfortable using.  No one wants to feel like they are going to ruin their host’s cloth napkins.
  3. Consider your budget.  Cloth table linens and cloth napkins can become expensive quickly.  An extra table here and there can add a significant amount to your linen expense.  Over ordering cloth napkins is a waste of resources.  Yes you want everyone to have one and to not run out, but you also don’t want a lot of extra that never get used.  Getting extra table linens and cloth napkins that do not get used is throwing money down the drain.  You bought or rented them, and you won’t get your money back for the rental.  Don’t spend too much on these items that you have to downplay your menu!
The holiday season can get hectic, but don’t let your choice of table linen slow you down.  Stay calm and keep on enjoying the season by following these 3 tips.  Choosing your table linens for your holiday party should not take the fun out of your holiday season.  Happy Holiday Parties!!!

SITEX Reflects on Founding Principles

When James and Gladys Sights founded SITEX back in 1961 (then known as Industrial Uniform Services, Inc.), they set out with no business, a shallow line of credit, some very used laundry equipment and one delivery truck to establish a customer base in uniform rental service within a twenty-five mile radius of its plant.

By using our founding principles:

  • Take care of our customers
  • Take care of our team members
  • Take care of the communities that we do business in

SITEX has now grown into 5 market areas:  Jasper, Indiana; Nashville, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; Paducah, Kentucky; and Henderson, Kentucky.

The company has grown from just a small uniform rental company to your one-stop shop for all your company needs:  uniforms, linens, facility services, restroom & hygiene services, and custom apparel.

How To Save Money on Your Towel Service

Many businesses especially restaurants use many different types of towels in their program.  This can be costly to the both the customer and the linen rental company that you use.  In order for both to save on cost, the customer needs to be educated on the different types of towels offered and more importantly, which ones they should be using for particular jobs.

Bar Towels - These should be used in areas such as wiping counters and tables.  This very absorbent towel is ideal where light to medium soil is encountered for general cleaning jobs.  This towel should not be used around heavy grease or scorching heat areas!

Soda Towels - These are for drying or polishing in light to medium soil applications.  The soda towel should be a very low lint towel making it the perfect towel for glass and glass-ware.  This towel should not be used around heavy grease or scorching heat areas!

Cleaning Towel - This is a heavy hitter!!  You need to use this towel in areas where soil is heavy.  The cleaning towel loves grease and grime, and can take it.  The towel should be very absorbent, utility grade towel designed to handle the heavier cleaning jobs, BUT this towel should not be used around scorching heat.

Grill Pad - This one takes the heat!  The grill pad should be used in areas where heat, grease, and grime are present.  It is layered to protect your hands and handle the heat.  This towel is great for grill cleaning, pots, pans and other high heat, heavy soil areas.

After reading this, you probably need to review your current linen rental program to make sure you are using the correct towels in the correct areas.  Once this is done, you will be saving more money by not having to pay replacement and/or damage charges and might be able to lower your inventory levels on other towels!
